The adoption procedure requires the personal participation of adoptive parents. It denotes that you can’t empower an attorney to conduct all procedure. We can consult you about relevant documents, accompany during communication with administrative authorities, and appear in court.
Adoptive parents must submit to the Russian authorities:
- documents about their dwelling, which include conclusion of relevant foreign authority about necessary conditions for child;
- income certificate;
- certificate of no criminal record;
- medical report on the absence of mental disorder, infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis;
- a certificate of completion of training;
- other document if it is necessary.
All document must have translation on Russian, which have to be notarized. Also, documents are issued by foreign authorities must be apostilled. Adoptive parents must complete special preparatory program. It may be completed in Russia or in your country. The curriculum must include such subject as:
- introduction to the course of preparation of candidates for adoptive parents;
- understanding of the needs of foster child development and the necessary competencies of adoptive parents. The concept of motivation of adoptive parents;
- stages of child development;
- features of development and behavior of the child left without parental care, subjected to cruel treatment;
- consequences of a break with a blood family for the development of a child left without parental care;
- adaptation of foster child and foster family;
- "difficult" behavior of the adopted child, skills to manage"difficult" behavior of the child;
- ensuring the safety of the child;
- features of sexual education of the adopted child;
- The role of the family in the development and rehabilitation of the child;
- bases of the legislation about adoption.
The curriculum should be no less than 30 hours. If parents prefer to complete curriculum in Russia, they can use help by translator.
Cannot be foster parents in Russia:
- USA citizen;
- persons in same-sex marriage;
- single persons from countries where same-sex marriage is permitted;
- persons suffering from mental and infectious diseases;
- persons without dwelling and incomes;
- who has a criminal record;
- who don’t complete special curriculum.
